π FEATURE STORY: Breakthroughs From This Weekβs Monologue Jam
This weekβs Monologue Jam was packed with breakthroughs, lessons, and wins. Even if you could not be there live, you can learn from the insights that came out of it.
Biggest AHAs:
β Rehearsal is a perishable skill. If you only practice when auditions arrive, you stay stuck shaking off rust under pressure.
β Play the opposites. Leading with joy and humor can transform even heavy material into something alive and layered.
β Know your reason for speaking. A monologue lands when you are clear on who you are talking to and what you want from them.
β Community builds confidence. Growth is faster and deeper when you rehearse in front of others instead of going it alone.
Actor Transformations from the Monologue Jam:
β’ Anna brought in a Chekhov monologue from The Cherry Orchard and had a breakthrough when she chose joy over sadness:
βThat was more interesting and fun. It had variety. I was more specific... This gave me something to think about.β
β’ Moneen returned to performance after years of directing and producing:
βI wanted to take care of my performer self. I need to be uncomfortable, messy, and risky. I feel really safe and motivated here at the same time.β
These are the moments that make Monologue Jam special. Every week actors are sharpening their craft, stacking monologues, and stepping into new confidence on stage and on camera.
And it is not just training for trainingβs sake. These sessions lead to real results and bookings.

π οΈ Actor Tip of the Week
Tip: Play the Opposites
Pick a go-to monologue. Perform it with the expected "trap" emotions on the page such as grief, sadness or anger. Then flip it and deliver it with the opposites of love, joy, charm and positivity.
Notice the new layers and possibilities that emerge! 99% of actors will play the negative on the page, do the opposite and stand out as the 1% that lead with love and humour.
π Client Shoutout:
Big congrats to DJ Demers for booking a role on Murdoch Mysteries. Coaching with us helped him step into the room with clarity and confidence and it paid off on screen. Way to go DJ!
